From the streets of London, this distinctively weathered and worn sandstone would have originally been a rich golden color, leading to the old rumors that the streets of London were paved with gold. Historical figure, Dick Whittington, was Mayor of London four times between 1397 and 1420. If the stories are true, it was the "gold" colored paving stones that drew him there in the first place.

Imagine the aging effect caused by horses, carriages and pedestrians through hundreds of years of use. The hustle and bustle, the dirt and the heat, the cold and the wet have been ground in by millions of Londoners going about their daily business.

Antique European Flagstone is the term given to reclaimed York stone paving lifted from old London streets. Similar looking stone is found on the streets of all the major cities in Europe.  Being of the highest quality, it is by far the most sought after reclaimed pavers in the world. We accurately reproduce London Street Flags with all their texture, character, and variety of sizes. The result is a gloriously rich paving material exactly like the original stone with hundreds of years of history built in.

Ordering Information
Antique European Flagstone are available in eleven different sizes. They look most authentic when laid in a random pattern. When planning small or irregular areas, it may be best to draw the area to scale in squared paper and draw a combination of slab sizes to suit that setting. For best effect, avoid long unbroken, jointing lines and having several flags of the same size next to each other.

See the Installation Guide for information on installing product for your particular use. The Guide also includes a Layout Planner, Layout Wizard, and useful tips to make your project easier.
